“In painting the landscape I am trying to create a sense of place and atmosphere. I study the wild edges of landscape and have a particular interest in forestry plantations and geology.

I adopt natural structures and forms from the landscape as the basis of my work and construct around them a painting which is resonant of a place and time. The landscapes of Perthshire and the Scottish Borders are central to my work.”
